Vacation Ideas?
    #3854887 - 03/01/05 10:46 PM (19 years, 1 month ago)

I need some help.

For Christmas, one of my relatives gave me a one week time share credit, along with a book that gave me destinations all over the world where I can use that credit.

I have to pay for the plane tickets and meals, but my lodging is free.

I don't know where to go.

Some of the places that I would like to go:

1) Yosemite. I have always yearned to walk among the tall stands of the ancient giants, and gaze at the mountains and waterfalls.

2) Yellowstone. Everyone should get there at least once I guess. Is it really the shit?

3) The cathedral forests of Oregon, though I am not sure just where they are.

I have some other thoughts as well. I don't ski, but I like mountains. Many ski resorts are open in the summer for people that just like to hike. I have heard that the Canadian Rockies are the whip. I could go to Vail or Breckenridge in Colorado. I could even go to the Swiss Alps of Bavaria in Germany. Italy also intrigues me, from her mountains to the stunning city of Venice. I have to get there just once.

As far as Cities go, I would like to do the riverwalk in San Antonio, or the French Quarter in New Orleans. I have always wanted to go to Key West, stoll the beachs of Costa Rica, and reaffirm my wedding views on a mountaintop in Peru. I could do just about anything, I just want to make sure it is quality.

Some other facts in my search. I am married with two little boys (age 4 and 3). They are going with me. The timeshare has two bedrooms. The person that we will give the other bedroom to is going to help us watch the kids so we can have a "romantic" night out. She wants to go to Scandiavia or Italy.

I don't know what to do. I would like some advise. If you have been somewhere that you love, please tell me about it. I would also like you to tell me when the best time to visit is.

Tell me about you best vacation. Tell me about the majestic beauty that you found somewhere that I just have to experience for myself.

I don't get much vacation, I need to make it count.

Tell me some tales, and thanks in advance.

Peace.

KEY WEST!

I've been there once when I was about 12 years old.  It was the greatest time of my life.  I know my mom and dad had a blast too.

There is beaches and swimming for kids and at night time when the sun goes down every night on the pier there is a big festival.  Every night!  It's great!

There are carnie type people around doing little street shows, and vendors like hippies selling hemp and jewelery AND fireworks. Oooooo.  I don't know if it's a sesasonal thing, but you should look into that a little more.

Jamaica. Reasons?

1. Tropical paradise? Check.
2. Potent and lovely ganja? Check.
3. Mushrooms legal? Check.

Then, I suppose you could just go to Amsterdam, but it's not nearly as gorgeous as Jamaica.

Honestly though, I myself would probably go somewhere else. I guess I'm just not much help, am I?

My best vacations are approaching. I'm going to Jamaica in about a week and a half, and I'm going to Japan in June.

1) Looks like a great place to me. Should make a poll out of it and have us determine where you're going .

I live near Yellowstone and I love it. Great hiking for one and since you have kids Bear World would be perfect for you. It's an outdoor paradise and there's lots of great dining too. It's the best of both worlds in my opinion.
