Where Spores Are Deposited

Hey guys
Just PC'ed 12 PF jars a few days ago, waited a day to let them cool. Now when I went to inoculate them with some GT spores, I was having trouble injecting the spore solution into the side of the jar so that it could drip down the side. Instead, it seemed to go more into the center of the cake, about 1/2 cm from the edge. Each jar had 4 holes that I injected into.
Is this a problem? Will my jars simply take longer to colonize?
Thanks!

It wont be a problem, it will just take more time. The more your spores are spread out during the innoc the more area you cover. Well when useing PF cakes.

Great, thanks. =0)
I think I'm going to go ahead and shake them to help spread out the spores.

It was awkward for me using the PF tek first time, the needles were not quite long enough. The verm would probably absorb the spore water pretty much, shaking won't do much to spread it around i reckon.
When I make PF jars now, I just use tyvek filter and no top verm layer, have 2 innoc points, stick the needle in and spray a bit of sporewater at the sides of the jar in a semi-circular motion, then cover the holes as the needle comes out with a bit of sticky plaster. This seems to work pretty well.

shakeing the jars is going to pack everything down and you don't want that. you want nice airy substrate.

plus pf jars have the dry verm layer at the top as a contam barrier... you don't want to get moisture up in there

Don't do that - shaking your newly innoc' PF-TEK cakes will mess em up.
Shaking is for grains. Since you can't shake, you use four innoc spots.

Haha alright..I won't shake them. Thanks everyone.
Cray, I'm pretty sure 24 hours is sufficient time to let jars cool.

I stick my jars in the freezer for an hour or so, being an impatient twit.
