Hi this is my first attempt at a bulk grow and I was just wondering if this looks ready to be patched?

Ok, gonna go patch here in a minute. After I patch, when myc starts coming thru again is that when I should start fruiting it?

if it comes back up evenly then fruit, if only one spot like ur pic, then patch again

sorry to hijack, but is patching really going to show that much differnce? How hard is it to get a solid pinset without patching?

Its not needed if you apply the casing layer even enough. That takes time to learn though and even still you cant do it all the time. Patching fixes that and definatly needed for an even pinset on casings that look like that. I patch when they look just like that, mist real well and right into the fruiting chamber they go. You dont want to much mycelium on the surface before exposing it to fruiting conditions. You want it just below the surface optimally. It can depend on your conditions though and you need to adjust for yourself so you may want to incubate another day or few, but with bulk it shouldnt really matter unless you have a particually cold chamber, it will create enough heat to carry it through and keep growing before fruiting.

Thats what I experienced with a strawtub recently.
I fruited it but it continued growing for days before finally after 8 days pinning started.
Hmmz didnt we talk bout this be4?:P
Anyway after all I got a very even (for a beginner like me) pinset.
Days after I fruited:
Pins, look how the myc took over the casing layer, :
Few days later:
Oops, some could stay longer and some are speading their spores already, a few minute slater I started harvesting:
After all almost 90 grams cracker dry from this first flush..;)

I dont think you really hijacked, you just showed him what it looks like when you dont need to patch. That often doesnt happen and if it comes up any different then as even as MF's, then I think a patching is good. If it comes up like that your good though. IMO though, his casing should have fruited a bit sooner though, thats to much colonization for coming out of the incubator.

Yeah thanks its true, it was meant as an illustration to the subjects we were talkning about.
But if I recall well I actually DID patch that casing once. But it grew so strong it almost overlayed in the FC...

wow I see. Looking much better. THat will take a solid bit of casing to patch at this point won't it? I would also guess the rest of the casing has to be damn close to breaking the surface. Looks like a very light patch then maybe directly to fruiting chamber?

I see many aborts.
How do you do your air exchange? Did you patch before you put it into fruiting?
After harvest spray the casing and flush it again. Make sure you give sufficient air exchange.
