Hey, my favorite music is Stone Temple Pilots/Velvet revolver/Perfect Circle/Incubus type stuff. Can someone recommend some other hard rock bands that I'll prolly fall in love with anyway later?

those groups were truly hard-rock in their early days,
then the music kind of went hard-suck... (imo) 
i personally don't care for the new APC material,
except for that one song on their new album,
you know, the one that ROCKS...
if you hear the next Core or Siamese Dream or S.C.I.E.N.C.E.,
please let me know so i can see the band before "success" ruins them.

Those bands you listed are all some of my favorites so that's awesome it's exact, excluding some additional bands. I'm not sure if you'd like the rest of the stuff i like because i like a lot of different stuff. im sure youd like some though, so maybe i'll suggest some later on.

Finger Eleven were a pretty cool band. not sure how they ended up on the same label as Creed, though. not surprised they never broke through to American audiences but mostly just their native Canada.
Melvins are essential but might take a while to truly appreciate. Kyuss is a great stoner/hard rock band that are pretty accessible. get their "Welcome to Sky Valley" album and thank me later.
a safe recommendation you might like is Helmet. get their "Betty" album. they were nu-metal before it existed and became shitty corporate angst. they were actually pretty incredible musicians, too. great rock music.
I'll go out on a limb and suggest something completely unrelated that you might hate due to its rawness:
Guitar Wolf. amazing Japanese band who take the best elements of the Rolling Stones and classic rock to create an intensely loud, fuzz-filled wall of sound that cannot be compared to anyone else. pretty much either love or hate them but needs to be heard. stripped-down rockin' goodness that defines "rock" music in my opinion. they don't rely on polished production and studio tricks but just fucking jam. period. get their "Planet of the Wolves" album from Soulseek. I share it but haven't been on slsk in a while.

I did get "Welcome to Sky Valley" on your recommendation last year and it 's better than "Blues for the Red Sun" IMHO, which was the only Kyuss I had head at that point.

MTV? Clear Channel corporate radio? crap? your mom? take your pick.
also, there's good and bad music from any generation. to deny all the generic music from the 60's/70's and only focus on the better artists is somewhat short-sighted. there was a lot of good if not great music from then but in my opinion there's a lot better music out currently. it's all a matter of digging for it and not letting what is the dominant trend dictate your opinion on things. you can't say new music sucks or isn't hard or is watered down. there are so many independent labels and genuinely amazing artists out there these days, and the Internet is a huge catalyst to exposing these artists on a larger level. just turn off your TV, radio, etc. and search for good stuff. the "good" music isn't as readily available as it might have been when you were growing up, but it's definitely there.

I agree completely, but I also don't think it's any secret that there were a lot more good bands that were popular in the 60's and 70's. You'll be lucky nowadays to hear one good band from the television or the radio. I know I haven't found out about any of my current favourite bands that way, it's all about word of mouth and searching the internet if you want to find the good music anymore.

and for eve, like jacques suggested.. i would agree with chevelle, deftones, and 311. and lots of their songs are good, not just the ones he suggested in addition to those i'll suggest muse, sublime, smashing pumpkins, and silverchair. although sublime you must know already and isnt exactly rock. and silverchair has a vast variety of sounds that differ very much from album to album. id suggest neon ballroom, and freakshow. im just thinking off of the top of my head, there are many more bands i favor. but these and the ones you already mentioned at the top of your post are some of my favs that are somewhere near the area of a rock sound and may be closer to your taste.

OK Cool. Hard rock for life! Into Deftones and 311, yes Led Zep der, and all the historic bands, of course, yep yep. Newer rock. For instance, when I was a kid I used to be a punk and saw that Guns and Roses were playing at the Starwood every week, but I was like, "another Poison, or whatever" and never chanced seing them. I would like to stay ahead of the hard rock curve next time around and pick it up quicker.
