He has developed abstract thought, so I don't think there are any permanent psychological issues you are looking at here.

people who's brains haven't fully developed shouldn't take drugs imo
he might be able to handle it but I doubt it's good for his (mental)development

Aye, I don't think I was clear enough or went far enough...

He has developed abstract thought, and psychedelics can get pretty abstract, so in that sense, he can surely properly experience these substances as his brain has developed abstract thought - but his brain is not finished developing yet, either.

I wouldn't go overboard, by any means... but the way that hallucinogens work, I don't think it will hurt him or retard his further development any - at least with our current (limited) understanding of both the brain and hallucinogens.

dr albert hofmann (invented LSD, isolated psilocibin from mushrooms, etc.) stated that psychedelics are best taken by middle-aged & older folks...

i took my first hit of acid when i was 16 and it was in the top 3 of the most greatest nights of my life. i was too young to get the crazy psychological trip but my young imagination gave me lots of visuals

I'm with danlennon on this one. When I was younger my trips were crazy and fun, but as I get older they can be harder to control as I have more emotional baggage and responsibilities and shit now.

Well I'll be 22 in June, going on 15 mushroom trips, 7 acid trips, and a whole lot of the latter sitting around waiting to be ingested, so...

bottoms up! (for me at least.)

Acid doesn't give you truths; it builds machines that push the envelope of perception. Whatever revelations came to me then have dissolved like skywriting. All I really know is that those few years saddled me with a faith in the redemptive potential of the imagination which, however flat, stale and unprofitable the world seems to me now, I cannot for the life of me shake.

I dunno dude..14? I was still relatively interested in life at 14. I took mushrooms and LSD when I was kind of..looking for something new in my life. I needed a new path. It seems like a waste when you're 14. Tell him to go to the movie theater and mingle with other 14 year olds. Or get a hobby.

14 seems like a waste. I doubt he would truly appreciate it for what it is. I'm not saying he won't have fun, but, I'd hold off. They'll (hopefully..) still be around when he's older.

I was 15 when I ate my first 1/8th of mushrooms. I went out-of-body and it completely reshaped my belief system and more or less gave me a purpose. So, there definitely are people out there who have/can benefit from these things at a young age.

There are tribes in the Amazon who let 9 year olds partake in ayahuasca ceremonies.

There is no 'downfall' or psychological trauma or disease he will (probably) encounter from mushroom use alone, although your brother has (and this sounds corny) opened a door which can never be closed (like delta said, abstract thinking).

Keep and eye out for his behaviour, make sure he doesnt trip too much, or get into addictive drugs.

I started shroomin when I was 15, so 14 shouldn't be much different.

So long as he knows the difference between 'use' and 'abuse'.

I remember in middle school, kids were using acid during school.

Damn.. selling middle school kids (grade 6-8) acid is fucked up...
Middleschool was the only chance I had to do acid so far in my life, I'm glad I passed it up. Although I wish I had bought some and saved it for a few years.
