Drying herb, how do you do it?
    #3848373 - 02/28/05 06:15 PM (19 years, 1 month ago)

This may seem like a dumb question.  I mean, I know how to dry herb.  Hang it up until the stem snaps.  But the issue Im dealing with is the odor.  It stinks worse than while its growing!!    I was looking here http://quickgrow.ca/prodDryer.htm and here http://www.bcnorthernlights.com/?page=dryer , but they want like $350 -400 bucks for them!  Thats ridiculous.  Does anyone have any drying methods that dont stink up the whole house?

Check the link, it has everything laid out.

But in short....

It appears to be a rubbermaid container, with several metal mesh screens, a nice carbon filter, and an inline fan. The filter sits in the bottom of the rubbermaid, and the fan sucks the air inside threw the filter and out of the cabinet. You can also place the fan on the outside and blow threw it, so you have more room for more shelves.

As a matter of fact ionizers do not work. They are proven to do almost nothing. The ionic breeze from Sharper Image costs $400.

From what I have heard, Ionizers reduce the bouqet of the finished product as well. Definitely not a desirable quality.

Ionizers, in fact, do work. The reason the Sharper Image Ionic Breeze always gets such bad ratings / reviews is because it is a passive system, it has no fan and therefore cannot do as much volume as one with a fan. Also, anyone who pays $400 for that thing is smoking crack, you can get a real ozone generator for less than that.

If you are opposed to running ionizers / ozone, definately look into carbon filters or ona-gel.

that can be built pretty cheaply with a minimum of tools, the carbon filter
it's self is usualy nothing more than a few layers of screen, polyfill and
activated carbon, the fans run about $10 at home depot, 4" inline in the
section with range hoods and bathroom exaust fans. roughly $35 for all the
components.

My boyfriend is trying a new method, which does not smell and gets rid of the unwanted stuff in the leaves, he puts the severed head in a tray of water with a weight on it, changes the water every day... he did this for three days, the info he had was to do it for a week... then you hang it up to dry, it should be complete dry in a day or two... If you like I'll get he to send me the web site he got the info from... it could be in French though...

Sharper Image model can be bought on ebay cheap as fuck for the simple reason of their suckage- I'll take my noisy mid-nineties model anyday- fourty bucks- but I am also of the impression that it destroys the odor of the bud a bit- not that it is so terible for it to do so really.... but I've seen a similar enclosed carbon-filtered unit and I'll back up InjectTruth and sing the praise a thousand times over- indispensable!- takes longer to dry though.  That's what's nice aobut having a tin shed out in the boondocks with fans and sealed floor/wall joints.  I reccomend it to anyone serious about their drying! :stoned:

its called water curing. it lasts usualy a period of 7 days, and saves a long time during regular curing process... all this does is remove the chlorophyll taste and cleans the bud, theres still a smell issue. And due to how careful you have to be with your heady, its not as easy to dry as with hanging it in a closet.

and it makes your bud look like regs no matter how good it was before you put it in there. water curing is not good really, it's for impatient people but it makes your weed garbage.

Here's a link i found on overgrow..

http://www.overgrow.com/edge/showthread.php?t=580370

it's the exact same thing as what was in the ebay post for 100 dollars...except this link has instructions for you to build it on your own, which costs about 50-60.
