A police officer is on his way to a friend of mines flat because of his shrooms. He had 20g fresh cubensis found in his fridge and they say its illegal cos the caps were bitten off!!!! Is this crap or what? I can hardly believe it.

Ok, I am not a lawyer, but this my understanding of the law as it stands.
The current law is very open to interpretation. They are illegal if they have been 'prepared' in anyway. Police are often told to interpret this as any modification to their natural state by human hand, under this definition biting the heads off or even packaging could be considered preparation and thus they are class-A.
A tabled amendment to the Misuse of Drugs Act will make them illegal in any form.
Yes, it stinks.

He just phoned me to say that the cop agreed that it was legal. Waste of time? The shrooms are gone. Apparently they wanted to test for some chemical which weve never heard of. Sounds like bull to me.

The cop probably decided that given they were still fresh, and the vague nature of the law, the chance of a conviction was slim. If they were dried it would be different.
