today is their birthday. When I went to break them apart to case I noticed there was allot of uncolonized substrate. The cakes were totallly white before birth. Is this common??? Did I birth too early???

You may have birthed a bit early. My monkey did this and had no problems although it took a little longer to pin.

i birthed all my cakes early, i lost 4 to mold and drying out, this was my first, so far i had about 100 shrooms, more to come.
