Me and Mary Jane

I need to stop smoking for a couple of weeks.. ive grown too dependant on it and i want to stop so it wont interfere with school. My questions is- if you smoke every day but needed to stop for a while, what did you do to keep your mind off it?

if I wanna quit I will usually take up drinking for 3 or 4 days.... just drink every night (not get drunk, but have a few beers).... it usually takes care of my need to be altered before bed.... then I get sick of drinking after a few days of that and bam, I'm home free.

kill your dealer (if you are in fact your dealer, kill yourself).

alternately (and seriously), as has been said...develop a hobby (outside of smoking pot daily) to take your mind off it. abuse of any substance sux.

I love using parenthesis.

Get a hacky sack, i got one a few weeks ago and it keeps my mind off weed. wenever i feel like getting high I just hack for a bit and it totally diverts my mind.

Start playing an instrument, nothing too serious like a guitar or drums (or maybe drums...), and get yerself a harmonica, or a hand drum; or a didjeridoo.

good luck

For books, check out an author by the name of Terry Pratchett, I highly reccomend 'Small Gods' by him, I'm re-reading it at the moment. Also see: Carlos Castaneda, Christopher Moore. Pratchett & Moore are highly entertaining, fun reads and Castaneda is... other-worldly.

  • play a musical instrument
  • draw
  • read
  • exercise
  • go for a walk
  • lure children into your gingerbread house
  • go fishing
  • go disc-golfing
  • go for a bike ride
  • stargaze

Fuck man, there is so much more to life than getting high. Weed can enhance these activities but I think life is more enjoyable with a clear head

It's really easy to list stuff like everyone else, but I completely understand what you are saying. It's hard to find something to entertain yourself once you stop smoking. People are like "GO HIKINH"

Well I live in Atlanta, I can't really hike. GO MOUNTAIN CLIMBING! Same deal. GO MAKE SOMETHING! Make what? GO BLAH BLAH! None of them ever appealed to me, so I've been having quite the issue with occupying myself. I currently only have 10 hours of class, so I can't even 100% devote myself to studies because it's just not that dependant on my work at this point.

It will take you some time to be entertained if you are anything like me. But DON'T, read books about drugs. Don't read the Acid test, you'll just get really distracted and think about pot or drugs and then you just aren't helping yourself. A pot mindset is a drug mindset. Think about something else -entirely-.

I do reccomend reading a book. Try something that is an easy read. Like Cosmic Banditos (not really about drugs but they are in it so it's comical and fun), or what I just read, Life Expectancy by Dean Koontz (very easy read, no sub-plots of sub-characters of any kind. Just straight up thriller-esque novel.)

Just don't smoke or do other drugs.
