Best grilled cheese ever...

Muenster and Gouda make a great cheese combo.

Use Mayo (spread on outside of sandwich) instead of butter!!

Let your pan get hot, and fry away.

Mmmmmm!

Gimme your best add-in ingredients. (aside from pepperoni)

For some reason the mayo thing makes me sick. I'll stick with butter.

As far as add on's, I like to dip mine in some ham.

Add a little hot sauce to the cheese before you cook it...

I know what your sayin'
Lately, I've been grossed out by mayo (and I just bought a huge jar)
But on a grilled cheese sandwich, it's a whole different thing.

anybody got any weird ad-on's?
(think: peanut butter and onion, or salty/sweet style ideas)
let's get creative.

I do the mayo thing on the inside, never had it on the outside. I'll have to try it. I like to use every possible cheese in the house and what makes the best is a little cream cheese inside. Oh yeah, and to make a ghetto reuben I add some sauerkraut 'n' ham. Damn, I want a grilled cheese now.

OK, creativity, once in a complete drunken stuper, which turned out to not be that stupid after eating, I made grilled cheese with crispy fried bacon.

Perhaps the greasiest most unhealthy but drunkenly satisfying sandwich I ever ate

Mmmm grease.
I usually go for the bacon sandwich
without melting the cheese.

Maybe I'll try bacon and kraut!

Munster cheese, ham, and thin apple slices. Roma apples work great.

Oh, I forgot about baby swiss with artichoke hearts. I reccomend cooking up the artichokes on your own and using the hearts rather than canned. The taste isn't briny that way.

I've heard alot about spreading the outside of the grilled cheese with mayo. But I'm not too sure. Heating up mayo? Don't the "experts advise against this?

Mayo gets bad if you let it sit out in the sun and get really warm slowly.

To fry it is perfectly fine.
You also don't have to store it in the fridge,
It has so many preservatives,
that it can stay on the shelf (opened) for months.

How about a ring of Goat cheese, grilled and served with chard and rocket salad, on top of beef tomatoe slices, garnished with red pesto and white balsamic?

All these sound pretty damn good. There is a restaraunt somewhere around here that serves nothing but different varieties of grilled cheese. You choose the type of cheese, the type of meat, etc etc. I hear its really good except I'd rather just make my own.
