Ok I have a question about lighting.. when the mycelium is still in the jars it needs to be in darkness (or should be) but when the mushrooms start growing how much light should i give them? with what wattage of light bulb? or what kind of light bulb? and a simple question.. im only using one terrarium so if i cased Equador beside B+ will that cause any conflicts? they will be in the same terrarium almost right beside each other..

Use a light bulb specially designed to capture the blue spectrum of white light. Usually plant grow lights and flourescent bulbs do this well for a low price. When using a light I would say a few hours a day should be fine for light. If the casings are in seperate containers there should be no problem. They can be in the same terrarium but being in the same casing pan or container may cause some serious competition problems. As long as they are seperated they can be as close as you want them to be.

in my experiance, darkness protocol only need be maintained for tray culture or on the portions of the mycelium that you do NOT want mushrooms sprouting from. so if you ar fruiting in the jar, you'll need to cover the bottom three-fourths or more of the jar. in a tray, you may not achieve full colonization before mushrooms start to grow. this in turn reduces yield and invites contamination. differing strains will not be in conflict as long as they are not physicly touching any part of each other. the 'girls' have a reading habit and like to have enough to read by for twelve hours a day. any ordinary bulb works. if you would be comfortable reading by its light, then it's likely the girls will too.

Use any light that has alot of the blue spectrum. The wattage does not have to be that high. Say a 150 would be fine, but don't have it close of course. Now everyone will have their own opinion, but as for me I don't use any light but of that which comes from the sun through a window. Not in direct exposure. I have grown shrooms in almost complete darkness. Always remember that your trying to mimic nature's way of optimal growth. Do some reading...as much as possible on all diffirent site's. It will pay-off :) Good luck!, and welcome to the family :)
