help with humidity

A foaf recently placed his verm casings in a styrofoam cooler (small) with pearlite and water on the bottom. However, the humidity level stays between 65%-75%. What can he do? I was thinking that elevating the tray a few inches off the pearlite might help since the tray itself is almost as large as the inside of the cooler and would allow more circulation. But I figured I'd get some opinions first before tearing into my friends coolers. Thanx in advance.

More perlite needs to be exposed... Get a bigger terrarium or, like you said, lift the casings/cakes off of the ground...
Oh, and styrofoam containers aren't too good, it's better to go plastic.
