possible death of mycellium
    #3846243 - 02/28/05 12:56 PM (12 years, 4 months ago)

So i am incubating my mycobags at 85 and they were like 1/8 colonized and i took one of them out to inspect it and accidentaly left it in the light for like 10 mins. I also wanted to see if giving it a mesage would speed up the colonization. So today i go to check on it and the mycellia that was growing on the top is now gone. I have no idea what happened but all of it is gone exept for in one place. So was it the light or the message or has it stalled or what?

Massaging it of course will break it all up and colonied spots will move around. Thats the whole point. Your supposed to break up the white chunks an evenly mix it throughout the bag. Then in a few days, the peices that were colonized recover and are spreading all around the whole bag.

Light is not poison. It only triggers pinning, which you dont want to do while colonizing. Thats why you leave them in the dark. You can check on them as much as you want though. And only massage once or twice..more then that can stall them. Even twice can if you have to much water.
