More huge mushrooms from the docs compost pile
    #383431 - 09/01/01 05:40 PM (22 years, 6 months ago)

Sorry I only have a web cam and I hate posting pics anyway BUT I am doing it now to show the results of a compost that I have been working on over the past few months these are grown under LESS THAN PERFECT CONDITIONS

average size cap was 2-3 inches and wieghing in was 1.5 to 2 oz wet.
I hope y'all enjoy!! wish you were here

Well the end I hope this will help out people who can not afford DB compost it is great stuff but the price is icky icky AND WE will let the results of testing this compost speak for itself.:)

Not to knock your product(I too have an EXCELLENT compost) But do you have any other pics besides these?
The reason My compost will not be released for another month or so is I am making sure it works the same all the time everytime--so I have been testing for over six months and have PLENTY of supporting evidence.
I guess what I'm asking is... Has it been tested EXTENSIVELY and do you have more test results than this?

Yes I have been posting pics as time goes on I have tested myself for 3 months and about a month ago started posting pics of the flushes and harvests from both the do it yourself compost kit and this compost here. I posted pink buffalo pics aussie pics and now koh samui pics.

I to have been testing BUT I hate posting pics
I recently sent out 10- 10lbs bags of compost and will be sending out 10- 5lb bags of compost as soon as I get back from vacation.

The compost is a wheat straw based mixed with horse dung, peat moss gypsom, urea, rape seed, cotton seed hulls cotton seed meal and a few others I can't think of
It is tried and true I have been in constant contact with a guy know as the king of compost JIM and a few other compost makers including talking with some people at fungi perfecti. And a few company's that make bulk compost. I hope to be able to charge 1.25 or 1.50 per lb + shipping.

I am happy to post more pics if anyone needs more(even though I do not like to)

The end result of compost after pasturization is usually 65-75 percent moisture.
So know you will not have to add water at all and yes you can reuse your DB box or bin or whateverI use a 55 gallon tub from wal-mart I do mist a little after each flush but that is by choice I have done both.

Yep, only because you have the predrilled holes if you do not have a way for air exchange though you will need to fan.

Sorry to keep bugging you.<<<< never I love this hobby and only do it for personal enjoyment and I love to help.

I read the part about 5lb and 10lb quantities being sold in bags.<<<<<<<<
These were not sold they were given to select people to try out so That I know I am not jumping the gun on it I do not want anyone to buy a bag and have it fail so I will continue to test and try new things.

Is the dung mix pre-sterilized/pasteurized and shipped in a bag with a couple of air filter patches on them so it's ready to be mixed with grain spawn?

It is wheat straw based compost there is very little dung in it just enough to help get the composting off to good start horse dung has a lot of bacteria in it that are beneficial to the composting process.
Being wheat straw based helps cut down on the odor sometimes experienced from manure-based composts.

When I put it up for sell I will pasteurize it and it will be in filter patch bags I am awaiting for the FP bags to get here I have some but would like to get different sizes and offer different quantities

Not to mention give you some free advertising.....Once again, thank you.....I'm awfully apologetic tonight, aren't I?? :)

This always help and don't apologize before you get married you want to test-drive you bride right??
Well I would expect nothing less from someone trying to venture into new compost.

I will gladly give you some space for very cheap on my site so you could market and sell all I ask is that we keep the price low enough so that city folk and those on a limited income could enjoy our spoils hehe I have seen some pics that you have posted nice work.

Dimitri,
That is a nice offer for the adverising space-thanks!
I too do not want to get into a pissing match-who's is better and so on. I do like the info on the wheat straw and smell.
I offer three different products-- dung, composted dung and compost. I have a VERY basic website that I will be introducing soon.
I will be happy to swap ideas and compost with you soon. I would like to suggest that you might want to try using a GOOD dairy manure instead of the horse manure to see the difference--I think you will be a llittle better off on you flushes. Those are some "Jim Dandy" shrooms in the pics but the flushes are a little thin. I think the cow manure will solve that. These pics show what I am talking about.

These are Mexi-Cubes on 7 lbs of my Dairy dung. I typically see flushes over 60 grams dry with this amount(7lbs-that is how much my basting pan holds).
I will keep intouch about swapping "samples" and Ideas.
Dioze1

::gasp:: two "vendors" not in a pissing match? doth mine eyes deceive me?..... seriously though, with you two in kahoots, it sounds like some great shit will happen (pun intended)... when two ppl can focus on the same thing without going at each other's throats EVERYBODY wins.

What i think might be really neat is trying THREE different "test" batches.... dioze's compost, dim's compost, AND the two mixed together... i'd love to see the final results of that.... hehe, it might evebn end up being a great "marketing gimmick" for the both of ya! ;) -later

By no means are we going at it. I am open to having as many resourses as possible to help both young and old shroomerites out.
Dioze1 is a great guy and we have exchanged not only info but I have used his compost in the past it is good stuff but I do not have pics of the flushes I do not like to post pics but I think this thread would be an awsome tool for all of us who like to or are just getting into using compost Please anyone, not just me and dioze, if you have pics of compost grown mushrooms and or horse, cow dung please put them in.

I will not get into a pissing match with anyone I respect almost everyone in this community including all the vendors.
If I feel there is BS starting or flaming I will delete my posts and let so and so flame on.
