white fuzz . . . help!

AFOAF is having some problems and sent me some pics. She is using an ultrasonic humidified tek, birthed 4 cakes 2 days ago. Only one is pinning and showing primordia, the other 3 have not pinned, and are growing frosty white fuzz all over. (see pics)

The digital hyrometer reads 97-98% RH, is that too high for pinning? Are these cakes ruined? Should she take them out of the terrarium so they don't infect others?

One of the two cakes has a knob of white something frosted in fuzz. She's not sure whether the knob is mycelium growing into some of the cake which may have gotten mixed into the verm layer while packing, or whether it's an infection.

All help is greatly appreciated.

okay, here are some pics




The second pic has that knob I was talking about . . . it's since bruised blue, so I guess my friend should feel comfortable w/ it. But she still wanted me to poll the audience . . .

Oh yeah, in the confusion and panic of possible infection, the cake above was briefly back in a mason jar (which was recently cleaned w/ soap and water) and was then placed back into the terrarium. She's worried about contaminants. What should she do?

Humidity may be a bit high. Other than that just get your panties out of a knot and wait a little longer. It can take up to 2 weeks for pinning to occur.

For supplies: Dr Bluethumb
For spores: FSR

humidity may be a wee high. the knob looks like an abort. sometimes aborts get to have rather scary appearances, but theyre only aborts. let it get bigger, then harvest it for use, as the aborts tend to be the strongest.
