Rooting Success!
    #3841075 - 02/27/05 02:15 PM (12 years, 7 months ago)

I had a torch and pedro cutting that refused to root in any substrate, until I used sand!
Within a week of sitting in moist, compact sand, both cuttings have 3" roots!
And now they are ready for soil or hydro.
A very clean, and easy method for rooting cactus cuttings.

yeah, well my sand too longer about a month. but maybe a hunch that they are used to sand to grow because they are from desert areas? maybe not though, but then they would root in different soils.

Try a sandy soil mix

I forgot to add that sand gives awesome support, stakes are no longer used!
Even the largest cuttings cannot budge when 3 inches deep in sand.

KISS, fill a bucket halfway with sand.
