The Truman Show
    #3839981 - 02/27/05 03:46 AM (11 years, 9 months ago)

Dunno if this is the right forum but I figured it's close enough.

I just finished watching this movie for the first time and I have to admit, Jim Carry is awesome. I've never had a doubt about that, really (except for Rubberface and that one movie where he plays an alien or whatever the hell he was, before he was really big) but this has definitely proven that to me.

If you haven't seen it, do yourself a favor and watch.

A classic.

Jim Carrey is a VERY skilled actor. He started out with a variety of potty humor, so his potential was not realized for a long time.

He's been doing a lot of drama and drama-comedy lately, and they're usually awesome.

These two are both awesome too, incase you haven't seen them.. the first one is a bit better, but the second one is surprisingly lax for a christian-moraled movie.

He was excellent in Man in the moon.

Yeah, I remember hearing how alot of people didn't like that movie. I thought it was great though. Back in my tripping days the thought of me being in his place often crossed my mind, like all my friends were nothing more than actors and all eyes of a world I didn't know were on me. :oogle:

I dislike Jim Carrey but really enjoy The Truman Show and ESotSM.

TTS hits very close to home for me given my "medical background" (paranoid schizophrenia).

AHHH I forgot about Man On The Moon... excellent! He did such an incredible portrayal of Kaufman!

I heard that during the filming of Man On The Moon, Jim Carrey became Andy Kaufman indefinitely. Like, when the other actors walked up to meet him, he wasn't Jim Carrey... he stayed in character the entire time they were filming.

Which is probably how he was able to upkeep such an incredibly accurate portrayal of Kaufman's very unique personality.
