Odd, probably trivial, physical sensation
    #3839624 - 02/27/05 01:36 AM (11 years, 9 months ago)

This is probably nothing, but yesterday I was lying on the couch and I was going to scratch an itch, but changed my mind because the itch went away on its own. So I had not moved at all during that time. But about a second after I changed my mind the arm that I was going to use to scratch that itch twitched! It just jumped on its own. It's so minor a complaint I almost didn't post about it, but I was wondering if anyone else has had this happen? Is it a common thing? What causes it? Is it something to be concerned about?

Just for the record I haven't done any drug except alcohol ( and only a few drinks at that) for the last few months and have no underlying medical problems. It just seemed odd to me. I have been told that just before I fall asleep my entire body will twitch. Its almost like the electrical signal from my brain to body is short circuited at that time. But I don't remember this happening when I was a kid.

My guess is that perhaps since you didn't scratch it, the efferent nerve signals built up and caused a brief spasm. Certainly nothing to be alarmed about. If this happened and then you lost feeling in your arm, well then I would be alarmed.

Sounds perfectly normal though.

I had forgotten about this, but about two weeks ago my right bicep began spontaneously flexing off and on. It did this for about five minutes or so off and on. Maybe something is wrong with my diet. I have heard that magnesium deficiency can cause these kind of things. Anyway, thanks for the feedback- I will just keep an eye on things for now.

Dont you just love it when your asleep then suddenly youll jolt, like 10,000 jolts come and go in 1 second, its a refreshing wake-up, shame it only happens in the middle of the night.

Ecstacy got me standing next to you

We just met
But I think I'm in love with you
But you're on it too
So you tell me you love me too
Wake up in the morning like "yo, what the fuck we do?"

Magnesium will be benifical,I'd go with homeopathic tissue salts as they are easier absorbed.
