afoaf is goin to a tool concert, and wants to hurry up the pinning process. what can one do to accomplish this?

if you have a casing just take a fork and gently stick beneath the surface just barely into the mycelia and wiggle it around a bit..do that all over the casing..give it some good light and you should see pins in 48 hours (=

I'm not sure if theres is anything you can do to rush the process.(What strain is your friend growing?)
Just wondering because some take longer than others to pin.

Try puting the casings, jars outside for a night, assuming that your tempatures at night drop by 20 degrees or so, to help initiate pinning. Also I think I read somewhere where this one guy even put his in the refrigerator for like 12 hours. Hope it helps.

This will sound nuts, but its worked for me many times. Take a clean sharp knife, pick up your cake, and cut a 1 inch wide strip off one side of it lengthwise. Pins in 2-3 days. My theory is that it pisses off or scares the mycellium and makes it fruit really quick so that it can reproduce before anything else bad happens to it.

he is growing p.cubenis (sp?) (also he is growing one cake in a poormans terrarium, with no casing). and im going to see tool on sept. 9th two!
