i am furious right now. i have been driving now for around 6 years now with no problem.. then a couple days ago, i was in a hurry for school. turned a corner and sped up to 35-40 mph FOR LITERALLY 4 SECDONDS. i see a cop down the road so i slow down and pass him.. he pulls out with his lights so i think he wants to pass me and the fucking asshole pulls me over.. this was my frist time ever getting a speeding ticket. everyone i know who was in a situtation like this got a warning, but i get over 100 dollars in fines. i already have enough problems in my life and now this. i have no money to pay for it either. MY question is if i should even bother fighting this in court. i dont want points on my record and cannot afford higher insurance. what should i do?!?!

fighting in court is pointless if you really were speeding ime, regardless of how many seconds you 'actually' were going over the speed limit. you could go to court, and sometimes the judge will tell you it won't go permanently on your record, if you don't get another ticket within a period of 1 year. also, lots of times, if you tell them you're broke they will allow you to pay it in increments. good luck

the reason i was driving quick because i wanted to have a perfect attendance in my class.not anymore.. i try to do things but other people just bring me down. Does anyone else have a bitter hatred for their own species? it painful to think of what we have done to our planet, evetually our species will die out and this will be the only time when the world will be in peace

when you go to court plead not guilty if the cop's not there, which they usually aren't for minor traffic violations.
your insurance won't go up much if it does at all

theyve cut out that loophole in a lot of places. they now allow the cop to make a written statment.
if i were you'd id just beg mercy, tell them your story and they might give you probabtion.

dude, hire a ticket clinic. They will guarantee no points on your lisence, no fine, you don't have to go to court, no driving school. You just pay them like 100-150. they'll get you off.

If your insurance is going up from one minor traffic infraction you should get a new insurance company. Don't mean to hurt your feelings or anything but you were speeding even if it was only for a couple seconds. If you go to court chances are they'll still give you the ticket and then you'll have to pay the ticket plus the court fees. In my opnion, you learned a lesson buck up and pay the fine. If you don't have the funds to pay it all off now set up a payment plan with the courthouse, they're reasonably understandable when it comes to getting their money.
Oh and if you don't have any other infractions for a year you can drop a point off your record (at least in idaho) and some states will let you take a test to lose up to like 3 points of your driving record

My experience with speeding tickets or just tickets for that matter is show up. I showed up for a speeding ticket and since it was my first it got reduced to faulty spedo and i got 2 points taken off the original 4 it said on the ticket. Then i got a bogus left of the line ticket a bit ago, went to court and the DA worked it out that if i dont get any moving violations in 6 months, the ticket is dropped. Just show up man and they will proably give you mercy since it is your first ticket ever.
