damn cakes

hey i was wondering my cakes are starting to pin but only on top of the cake why is this?

Most likely light is what's causing it.

If you have a clear terrarium, and most of your pins come from the side becuase that's where the light strikes it. If you have an opaque container, light only shines down from the top and the mycelium only fruits where light hits it.

Think of it this way, in the wild light means the myceium has broken the surface and it's time to produce the goodies.

You may have other reasons, but in my opinion light is the utmost cause of pin location.

I've found the same thing with my cakes. They only fruit from the top. I don't know why. They have even light, and are laying sidways but only fruit from the end that was the top of the jar. I've started to case in vermiculite and now I get much better flushes per cake.
