Melatonin and tripping timing

I usually find that the best time for me to eat shrooms is at midnight. By 2:00-3:00am I am peaking, and I'm comming down just in time to watch the sun come up and start the beautiful new day with a pleasant glow.
I was looking into some mind enhancing supplements I could take and I found this info on Erowid (God bless Erowid!) about melatonin:
"Melatonin levels are low during the day. At sunset, the cessation of light triggers neural signals which stimulate the pineal gland to begin releasing melatonin. This rise continues for hours, eventually peaking around 2 a.m. (3 a.m. for the elderly) after which it steadily declines to minimal levels by morning. The delay in timing and decrease in intensity of the melatonin pulse is a manifestation of the aging process."
Does anyone here think that the fact that 2-3am is the peak of melatonin release could have anything to do with the increase in the quality of my trips? What are the reactions of psilocybin and melatonin?
I will post this in Mental and Physical Health also...

lol i personally wouldn't suggest this. I take melatonin regularly at bedtime to help me sleep soundly. Melatonin is a natural chemical in your brain that promotes darkness, which in turn promotes sleep. It's no tylenol PM, but melatonin supplements WILL make a person noticeably sleepy if they ingest enough of it. I don't know about you, but on general instinct I don't think sleepiness and psychedelics sounds like a real winner of a combo...who knows, it's probably pretty damn hard to fall asleep while peaking on shrooms, it may be virtually impossible, I dunno.

It is very difficult. Yet, somehow, in my early days of tripping, whenever a trip went south I would abort by going to sleep. Not quite sure how I managed it, but I did.

Yeah...the only time I ever pulled that combo was coming down from an intense acid trip and running out of pot and just wanting to sleep, so I popped 2 melatonins at the tail end and pooped out.

hehe Ive done that once as well, but like you I was also at the very end of my trip, popped 4 melatonins and had the most peaceful pass-out ever.

but doesn't melatonin contribute to dreaming? That is what I thought might enhance the trip. I mean, you guys are probably right, but I was just wondering...
