Lighting Idea need help

i had this idea to just tape several blue christmas lights to the top of my tarriums lid, would this work?

Don't think so but if you go down to home depot or walmart you can get those flourescent lights for under counters and such. They cost about $10 here and will work like a charm

Yeah, save 'em for the holidays. Shhot for some fluoros and look for really cool white temperature ratings -- 5500k is nice and blue.

On the lighting issue:

I just bought one of the small flourescent lights and am wondering if it's best to squeeze it into my case so it's close to the shrooms, or else i can mount it so it's about 3 feet away...the direct light isn't as good at that distance but seems reasonable...is one way better?

i personal mount mine about 5 inches above the rubermaid container this seems to work great. they realy don;t need much light so if at 3 Feet it is still lighting the inside of the container that should be just fine. What i found works best for me is to also upen a shade in the room to allow a little indirect sunlight in for a few hours aday.
