caps vs stems

How much Psychoactive material is in the stem? Any? Is it mostly in the cap? Is it worth saving the stem? I remember 'back in the day' we used to buy bags of mushroom caps. caps only. Thanks, PharmBoy

It's the same. Ever notice the dark blue stains on the stems? That's the psyilcybin oxidizing... plenty of potency there, so don't throw 'em away...or at least send em to me :)

There are many rumours claiming that caps are more potent, and stems are shit... The only "shitty-stems" I know come from marijuana. Every part of the mushroom (except the spores) is potent. Don't throw away the stems, because this usually makes up most of your harvest...

Oh man this question has been run over hundreds of times here. DO NOT THROW AWAY THE STEMS! There is some argument that stems are more potent by weight versus caps becuase 1) Caps have a lot of surface area vs dry weight and therefore the theory goes that psilocybin is oxidized faster 2) Caps actual purpose is producing and dispersing spores, and another theory goes that more spore production means less energy for psilocybin production. At least get a print off the caps first Definitley hold onto those stems, like was previously mentioned, its where most of your weight comes from Grover

y'know, maybe thee's a sorta overlapping of amanita lore into psilocybin lore... cuz mosta the good stuff in A muscaria & pantherina is in the cap, esp the skin just under the veil... and i already tried in a previous thread to have 'em send me their "useless " stems from psillies, nobody ever did...

Depends on the size of the mushroom. By weight the cap and stem are relatively the same potency, so if you had a cap that weighed .5grams and a stem that weighed .3 then yes the cap would have more. Howevery I usually see mushies that have more mass in the stem rather than the cap.

Hey Product, It is the psilocine which oxidises, not the psilocybine. And yes, analysis show that there is approximately an equal proportion of either two chemicals or all four chemicals in a given dose. On the other hand each dose contains a different amount of chemicals then the other and sometimes have all four chemicals (baeocystine, norbaeocystine, psilocine and psilocybine) in them and sometimes only one. (plus Gartz discovered a new indol in Inocybe aeruginascens which he named aeruginascine. And recently Dr. Tjakko Stijve of Nestles found a new indole in some of the specimens if P. cubensis which I brought back to him from southern Thailand. \ For instance, Copelandia cyanescens collected in Hawaii was found to be rich in psilocybine and low in psilocine while collections from Australia were shown to be low in psilocybine and high in psilocine. Beug and Bigwood and Bigwood and Beug, 1981, 1983, found a varience of from one to ten in repeqted flushes of in vitro grown strains of P. cubensis. Of course if the collections were powdered and pooled into one pile than every dose would be of an equal proportion. You could pick one species on one block and three blocks away pick the same species and there could be a great differencre in the potency of those two different collections of the same species. Substrqates and additions of tryptamines innnoculated into cultivated species can produce a more potent strain. Some strains of P. cyanescens hacve yielded 6 to 10 doses in a single dried gram, thus making it the most potent species. Mj

Well, that duuude just so happens to be, in large part, responsible for many of the shrooms that we grow..Mushroom John has collected many original specimens from exotic locations and has donated prints to many of the online spore vendors to domesticate..So show some respect, ya loon... BTW, he was clarifying a post that wasn't meant for you..there ARE other people besides you here.. How is a raven like a writing desk? How deep is the rabbit hole? Well Walrus, 7 inches huh! Here are two from a print I brought back from Orissa, India which are very close to 23 inches long. The smaller shrooms growing on the left side of the aquarium are approx. 8 inches high. bye Mjshroomer By the way, tomorrow I go to Cambodia and Thailand for more exotic shroom prints.
