Has anyone tried a Hydrapod?
    #383209 -

Just wondering if they're any good. What's the brown shit in them anyway? It looks like rabbit turd. And $170 is awfully expensive for a bucket with an air pump.

Just so you know its alot more then just a bucket with an air pump. Those brown "rabbit turds" are geolite. A clay stone that helps absorb moisture and wick it into the air for humidity. The geolite also serves an important purpose for rehydrating the cake as it drys out, allowing for more and bigger shrooms to grow. The air pump is designed to diffuse the CO2 that has formed in the tank into fresh air and redistribute it throughout the growing environment. A pump is included that periodically floods the geolite with water keeping it continuously moist. The whole system is essentially hands off, and you can leave it alone for up to a week.

Hmm thanks for the info guys. I didn't realize it was more than just a bucket and pump (and rabbit turds...) I checked out the website and the promise of leaving it alone for two weeks is very appealing, as I am usually too busy to fan my poorman's terrarium more than once a day.

As far as "crops" go: what is the average yield one can expect from one of these cultivators? (Given standard BRF/verm substrate)

thanks again

Personally I'm very excited about the hydrpod. If you check out this web page you will find photos and comments of an ongoing hydrapod test in progress.
