Straw Q.
    #3831544 - 02/25/05 04:17 AM (12 years, 9 months ago)

I just got done pasteurizing my straw, and it is now sitting on a rack in the sink. Would be be alright to let it sit there overnight while I sleep? Or do I have to stay up? What should I do? Someone with experience please answer this question. I don't just want someone to say it's ok with no knowledge of the matter, it would be a big waste of my time to risk contam, or overdrying. Thank You

I don't mean to sound rude. I'm just tired.

If you pasturize straw you should try  This Tek it uses only the water you need and no waiting for it to drain. plus all the nutrients that are lost in the water while draining are still in the bag which in turn are in the straw. less time less mess.
P.S. i love straw Good Choice

that tek seems like it might be a bit difficult to get the water consistency correct when pasturizing straw... i think i would prob. prefer the soak pastuerization, and again thats just for straw

dung is another thing though... i'll be using spawn bags for my dung, 170F soak for straw, and a PC and jars for my wbs

Yeah, that tek is more for poo/compost then straw. Straw in oven bags doesnt work nearly as well as water pasteurizing with straw. Trust me, plenty of nutes still there for 3 nice flushes. I've let my straw sit anywhere form 12-48 hours before spawning. Sooners better of course but feel free to get your sleep when you pasteurize.

Yeah I'm up and it's the next day now. I am waiting a couple more hours till i start layering. Just want to double check my incubation temps and humidity.

Thanks Guys

75-80 for incubation (bulk generates alot of heat itself) and humidity doesnt matter until you fruit (then 85-95%)
