Pressure Cooking WBS
    #3830089 - 02/24/05 11:01 PM (11 years, 9 months ago)

Hey, I got a PC, I am PCing my shizzle, but I was wondering...

Can I shorten my PC to 35-40 min? Cause my PC takes 25 min to warm up and about 15-20 to cool down, and I am really strapped for time (I have one more set of jars to do after this set).

So, can I shorten my PC to 35-40 min instead of the suggested 45-60 without worrying too much?

Thanks

I think the recommended time is 60 minutes to 90 minutes.

Old agar, if time is not a rush factor, when he jams 18 quart jars in the old 941, runs it 120 minutes. Hardly ever a contam issue. The more mass you have in a PC, the longer you should run - the times.

90 minutes Min. More cannot hurt, so long as your PC doesnt run out of water.

Shorter cook times can mean higher chance that you will not kill off all the posssible nasties and or foreing spores.
If you want to decrease cook time you need to increase heat\pressure. But this means baby sitting the cooker more also for safety reasons.

PS mush teking requires patience and time , if you do not have both these under your skin...wait till you have them  You rush wine it tastes like vinegar or grape juice

I do 1 hour 15 PSI. cutting corners on the sterilization time is wasteing your time with the whole grow. if you cut corners you could be waiting 2 weeks to find out you've grown green mold.

Also, you've gotta wait until your pc reaches the desired psi before you start your timer.
