Pins taking an eternity to show...
    #3828838 - 02/24/05 08:03 PM (13 years, 1 month ago)

Hi. I've had some quarterpint cakes sitting in the fruiting chamber for over a week now, with no pins. I moist and fan them daily. Anyone have any ideas what's wrong?

temp in your fruiting chamber?

73 to 76 degrees F...would work well.

are you giving them light?

give them light.

What is the humidity like?

Have a hydrometer?

Maybe reduce the amount of water your sraying directly on them. Might be getting too much moisture on the cake. Itself.

If the conditions are right just be patient. Patience sometimes is the most challenging aspect of this hobby. One week is not a long time, especially with certain strains.

Yes I would definitely get them on a light schedule, that always helps initiate pinning.

Yea ,probably misting directly on the cakes , kinda of a no-no
when they pin Don't directly on them
Mistr upward and let it "fall" on them
