Humidity Droplets
    #3828222 - 02/24/05 05:32 PM (11 years, 9 months ago)

I use perlite for humidification in the double tub terrium tek with submersible water heater.See Below:

Anyways, I am having a problem with to much water accumulating in the top and then dropping on cakes. I work and am gone for 10 to 12 hours so I was wondering if there is anything I can do? Thank You and Peace

I know what your talking about and the answer is the difference of the temperture inside you tub is quite a bit higher than the outside air temp. What is the temp in your tub? Outside air? The closer they are to the same the less condensation build up in your tub. If they are equal there would be little or no condensation and the humidity would still be high in the tub. Having dealt with this proplem I did much experimenting.

Well our house temp is around 68-70 but I keep my terrium at about 80-85. Can I keep the terrium temp lower? Can I open the lid a bit? Any other suggestions would be great. Thank You and Peace

Yes, that's way to high for fruiting 72 to 75 for fruiting I have even fruited at 70 with no problem and 80 to 85 for incubation. I would lower the terranium temp and that will help tremedously.

pretty much the same as what Stratus gave you.

lower your fruiting chamber to the mid 70's.

only keep your incubator in the 80's.

light condensation on cakes isn't going to hurt them...btw.

no, but if you have an aquarium, its easy to build a lid from plexiglass. i made the lid with about a thirty degree angle, which, well you know what that does.
