then I apologies.  I wasn't trying to advocate a scientific breakthrough, simply was happy with how this mishapped casing turned out.

There is a general misconception as to what constitutes overlay. If that casing were suffering true overlay, it would not have fruited nearly that well, if at all.

When you say overlay, are you speaking of a layer of dead, non-reproductive myc cells covering your substrate, sending everything into a non-receptive hermitized state?

If so, damn your strain has incredible potential :P

With that said dog you know your shit man!!!!
Most people have no clue what true overlay is! which BTW for those not in the know overlay is an impervious mat of vegetative growth which can produce a few pins it usually does not. (fact) This is all basic mycology 101. Any questions about how, why, where pins develop read up first before giving advice. The reason we're here (Shroomery) is to pass along the best information possible so this fine art of mycology proliferates.! GL guys

Well I still agree with Rexy, even slight "overlay" or whatever everyone calls it, is not something to worry about. Most people dont get even get ovelay when they atart worrying about and even stuff like this isnt so much worry:

Because they turned out like this:

(its about 14-20 grams off each)

Edit:
Those might look better then some flushes people get with nice casings so they may not see the "problems" that exist because of the overlay. Normally off casings like that I get more like 20-30 grams per casing and even up to 40 grams on ones of the same size:

Turn your closet into a fruiting chamber
Casing layer colonization and overlay
