Its raining mushrooms!

Hi, I live in Southern California, in the Orange Country area, and every time I go outside my lawn in covered in mushrooms, I'm 99% sure they aren't any sort of active species. The gills are a reddish brown, but have a greenish sheen to them in some places and the cap is about 5/8" wide. The stem is 2.5" long and is hollow and stringy the cap is a reddish brown ringed by a dark brown on the edges, they smell like normal mushrooms that you would buy at the store, and they don't bruise at all, a spore print is in progress, anybody have any ideas?

They look like Panaeolina foenisecii to me. Better description and sporeprint will help to tell for sure.

The spore print should be brown, revealing Panaeolina Foenisecii.
But there is some slight detail on the cap that reminds me of Panaeolus Subbalteatus, but I highly doubt they are. Please take a spore print and reply back to us.

The spore prints are in, they are a darkish brown, in the description ivi posted, it says they contain small amounts of psilocin and psilocybin, exactly how much is that? I've probably got pounds of the stuff growing here

looks like Pan. foenisecii to me too!
most people consider reports that stating Panaeolina foenisecii as active are incorrect. i tend to agree.

Spore print confirms Panaeolina Foenisecii. They are not active.
Read all about the controversy surrounding the (non)activity of this mushroom here. http://www.shroomery.org/index/par/12179

The problem Mitchnast is that new mycologists who decide towrite books on shroom ID often carry the mistakes by the older guides as tot he informatrionr egardng the presence of psilocine/psilocybine in the mushroom known as Panaeolina foenisecii and Panaeolus sphinctrinus.
They are myciologists, not experts on psilocybe mushroms. Since most of theprofession ID guides list it as possibly hallucinoenic/poisonous, etc., they copy that same info i and incorporate it into their guides. Even writing to them of this error does not mean they will correct it. Even Stamets and Arora in both of their books have mistakes regarding Psilocybes and in subsequent reprints of their books they still have not corrected such errors.
An example of one is the photo of Psilocybe cyanofibrilosa in arora's buig field guide which is labeled as Psilocybe cyanescens. Both david and paul know of the error yet have not corrected it. They also list panaeolina as possibly hallucinogenic.
many guides also list P. coprophila as a suspected species and some guides still list the non-existant Pholiotina cyanopoda (Conocybe cyanopus) as a hallucinogenic species.
