Coco Fiber

My straw is almost fully colonized. I have heard so much great stuff about coco fiber. Do any of you know the cheapest place to get it? I will be casing about 32 square feet of spawn. How much coco fiber would I need?

the best place be locally; look in the phone book if you have a hydraponics shop. they sell it by the brick or by a "case" of 12-16 bricks- about 2$ each per (cheaper by the "case"). what kills you by ordering online is the shipping- they charge almost 2x what the brick costs (and its light)...

1 brick + 5l of water = 8-9 l (liters) of coir; not sure how that would be spread over a large area like that (bad at math) but one brick makes a lot...

gluck

btw, you can order it online, ive seen it from www.windowbox.com - im sure theres more online sources (but since i wont buy it online anymore, i dunno)... online hydro shops as well as shops for growing orchids should carry it

gluck x 2

1 brick is for 9 liters.

32 square feet are 3 square meters.
If you want to case your substrateapp. 1 inch(2.5 cm) deep, you will need 3 m^2 x 0.025 m = 0.075 m^3 = 75 liters of coir.
That is 75 :9 ~ 8-9 bricks .

Anno,

Thanks for your reply. I found a hydroponic store in town that carries it. I will buy it on Tuesday and post pics as soon as they grow! Thanks
