Great Huxley quote, about his 2nd trip
    #3826106 - 02/24/05 05:08 AM (13 years, 3 months ago)

I'm reading "Moksha, Aldous Huxley's Classic Writings on Psychedelics and the Visonary Experience" at the moment and had to share this quote from a letter he wrote to Dr Humphrey Osmond (the guy who supervised his 1st trip).

"...for what came through the closed door was the realisation - not the knowledge, for this wasn't verbal or abstract - but the direct, total awareness, from the inside, so to say, of Love as the primary and fundamental cosmic fact".

It's a great book, especially if you enjoyed Doors of Perception & Heaven & Hell. It's a collection of essays, lectures, extracts from his novels and letters.

it has some great stuff, like letters by huxley and his friends, his articles. also explains in great detail his dying moments. really nice book, I recommend also.

Well you might as well start with Doors of Perception. It's a fairly easy read (easier than Heaven and Hell) and it's very very insightful and profound, as Huxley describes in an intimate way his feelings and thoughts on his first mescaline experience. There really is some fascinating information and conceptualizing in this short book.

i'd start with island, then go with brave new world, then i would go for doors of perception (which is huxleys own experience) and then maybe moksha. all is good though, but I think island is one of the best books I'e ever read.
