Seeing how the usual troublemaking trolls ruined the last announcement, here it is again:

Moreover, I just read over the old post and the flames that followed. I beg everybody to not flame this post. What we need is less fighting and more support at the shroomey. I know that I dont follow my word too wisely but I am trying to change.

McMan - be the bigger of the two and dont flame, instead, wait to see what he comes up with and reply with constructive critism. If he flames you back then you know who is more mature.

NuShroomFarmerII (or something like that) - stay out of this. It is not your design and you have no right to flame captain max about his idea.

Moderators and Adminstrators - please lock this thread at first sight of excessive flaming.

Excuse me if I didnt make sense but I am late for work. HaHaHeHe.

The cost? Not much, if you are already using an aquarium for a terrarium then you are really looking at no cost at all. This isn't an automated 'pod', it's jsut an improvement over what most people use.

A minor improvement that will make a major difference.

The hydro-Pod isn't exactly a revolutionary device, An even more compact, more efficient device can be constructed using the large tubs that ice cream comes in. I've been working on plans to build one for several months, but instead of using a dome to let light in it would have a built in 10" halogen.. The only probelm I'm having it keeping water from driping off the lid.. Also, I rather like the name "Maxi-Pod" its creative.. more creative then "Hydro-Pod" (Imo anyways) It shows a sense of humor =) Anyways I love people bringing things in and new terrarium setups, but talk is cheap. and until I actually see some designs or blue prints, electronic specifics and schematics etc. My hat stays on Max. - Your neutral nemesical ally, Jared

Well, the idea's are basically designed to be used with an aquarium/terrarium but they might be able to be applied to other containers as well.

I've just got a few pics left to shoot on this roll, then I'll get it developed and scan the Maxi-Pod pics along with one of a Mushroom Hive which is several pods together.

This is actually an idea that was brought to me by one of my elves months ago. I've just recently got my scanner working again so I've decided to show the world. It'll prolly be a few days yet but I should have it done before I leave for mushroom picking up north, if I go this year.

To be really honest, if you post such info it will be a first for such vendors. I can understand the buisness and hiding an idea - everyone does it. If you post something that is new or different from any terrarium method, I will be your new life long customer. If you post some crap that we already know, then its just a ploy to piss McMan off.

I really agree with one post here - the information should be shared. In my opinion, Ryche is the only one who has pushed that the furthest for a vendor. PF is a good one too, but never posts in forums. I like PF and Ryche as far as help to the community. So far the rest are very similar to the drug companies that advertise on tv now and raise our freakin health insurance everyday.

Im looking forward to this Max.

This is an idea that was given to me by a professional mycologist who had grown shrooms years ago in his younger days. There are prolly lots of people who have already discovered this innovation but no one has really come forward with it. It's not something I could make off of as it can be easily constructed from materials found around your home but it is an improvement over traditional aquarium/terrarium methods and will make a newbies life a little easier!

I dropped the film off today. Should have the whole shebang ready to go by Tuesday or Wednesday. Unfortunately, this is a small town and we don't have 1 hour film developing yet, not to mention that Monday is a holiday here.

I too have been working on a new design. That of which is very much like the "hydro-pod". Only smaller...I made a promise to the great shroommage years ago that i would help out at least two people in mylife(just a repayment kinda thing for him showing me the way).When I think it's fool proof, I have plans on setting up a web site for construction, and use, so the newbies have hope.
Maybe we can exchange idea's...it's for the puplic anyway right? I think for the most part it's done...just needs some fine tuning. All part can be bought at home depot, and pet store's.
Just trying to keep it real!

I really hope your not yanking us Max and do have a low-cost, fairly easy to construct semi-automated grow chamber plans of some sort and this is not just a way to piss certain fellow shroomers off. Im rootin for ya now Max, dont let us down.

The instructions were posted in the Cultivation forum last week. Unfortunately, the good pics didn't turn out so all I had was a pic of an experimental version.

The pic you see is of 3 terrariums arranged as a 'mushroom hive'. A better pic of 6 pods filled with fruiting cakes didn't turn out.

By turning your terrarium over onto it's side and changing the lid into a swing door, air exchanges are easier obtained and a hive of pods can all be aerated by swinging all doors open at once.

Early tests have shown that fanning isn't even needed with this setup. Merely opening the swing door for a few seconds does the trick.

With the MaxiPod, fanning away in an attempt to get all the Co2 up over the sides is a thing of the past.

If you make your swing door properly, humidity of 90%+ is also easily attained by simply making sure there is moisture on the inside walls. A tight-fitting cardboard swing door lined with plastic and attached via a duct tape hinge guarantees this. Humidity will stay above 90% for a good 2 or even 3 days before needing another quick mysting. Total time spent tending to your MaxiPod is about 4 seconds in the morning and night for air exchange and about 6 seconds a week mysting 3 times. Total time per week is approx 1 minute.

Obviously the MaxiPod isn't for everyone, just those who can afford 1 minute a week.

sorry, im kinda slow... no perlite, just misting the sides? wouldnt the excess h20 run out of the swing door when you went to fan? and when you swung the door, wouldnt it release some of that humidity- it would seem that it would be pretty hard to maintain 90% rh with no perlite and misting only once every 2-3 days when coupled with the fanning...?

You'd be suprised ocill8. All that moisture on the walls of your terrarium? It's not going to evaporate in just the several seconds it takes to complete air exchange. I have a hygrometer and the resutls which prove my claims. The key is to have an air tight swing door.

This idea of turning the terrarium on it's side was given to me by a professional mycologist who tinkered with growing cubensis in his younger days. It is legit and it does make things easier.

Minimum cost, minimum effort, maximum results...the MaxiPod.
Can you afford NOT to have one?
