Ahhhh, but a true God would have full control of time itself (muchless anything/everything else)....  Where as you have implied that God has no control over Father Time....

But, that is reading way into your answer - to which I did think to be clever....

Jesus is the unification of God in man so to be one with God is to be one with Jesus. If you can't accept Jesus then you won't accept God.

Actually, both answers are right... we are both Jesus AND God.

Metaphorically speaking, Jesus represents the ego of man.. the "I" or "me" that we tend to identify with.

He was said to be the son of God... which is exactly what we each are, individually. We are all incredible beings with power that even we cannot comprehend. We are each a "something" born out of "nothing". God is that nothing.

God represents the pure awareness and consciousness within us, which we can only learn to unlock by growth of knowledge (AKA, expansion of ego) to the point where one learns that sacrifice of that knowledge (AKA sacrifice of our "Jesus") is the only way to reach God.

Through knowledge, one learns that they must SACRIFICE knowledge (and therefore, in turn, the knowledge-based "I" or "me" ego, AKA "Jesus") in order to truly reach God.

Kinda ironic... not unlike a savior "needing" to be born just so he could be sacrificed to somehow benefit every human being to be born in the future. (Which, I might add, makes VERY LITTLE (if ANY) sense with a literal interpretation.)

Hmmmm...

believing that God only exists in the hearts and minds of his believers (where "he" does much good, sometimes) as I do, I completely agree.. If you believe in Jesus, or God, you are his/their existence.

Well, CJay, that would depend very largely on the individual in question's current spiritual state.

"Christ" means anointed, or 'messiah'...

And while I strongly believe that every single person is capable of being their own Christ, I do not believe that every single person realizes and/or exercises their ability to be their own savior.

Thus, while every human is POTENTIALLY "Christ", only a relatively small portion of our population is REALIZED "Christ."

If that makes any sense.

I quite agree.

My point was really about the difference between Jesus and Christ.....I mean I'm not Jesus, Jesus was a dude who lived 2000 years ago, but I may be Christ.

Jesus = person, first name - an individual lifeform
Christ = Enlightenment, God realisation etc - a state of being

Maybe I was just being pedantic - maybe got the wrong end of the stick, because I thought the thread title meant>>> We are all (potentially at least) Christ.

None of us is Jesus (except a couple of our members judging by their names!) - Jesus is the person/ego part/name.

However maybe the thread was really that we are Jesus, meaning we are just people - that Christ is not us.

I'm confusing myself now.

??

Okay if we are God/Jesus, when what happens when we die? Do we just get absorbed back into "IT" where we exist unaware, or totally aware...do we each have our own little afterlives like on 'What Dreams May Come?"

I also get the feeling we are linked closely with God but I can't seem to connect an afterlife to this idea for some reason.

I have the feeling that our awareness is absorbed and "we" become nothing (and everything) when we die, but I am still thinking on it.

something like that

- i suppose if one has achieved Christhood/Enlightenment one is said to have died while living - to be able to extend consciousness into Samadhi and feel all of the vibrant universe as one(self). At least in a fashion that alows one to still hold one's earthly identity.

- Although I do not know what haoppens when we die, I generally feel that the current identity will be left behind and be no more. It seems likely to me we are absorbed back into the Super-Massive-Christ-energy that we commonly know as God/The universe/The Great Spirit or whatever. Perhaps we get another individual body somewhere for our soul to inhabit. Perhaps our soul is simply back with the oversoul communicating the experience we just left as a human. Perhaps we become 'everything' and our old identity is just felt and known as an extension of our deep and omniscient Self.

Maybe some wierd composite - experience is reasonably likely to continue in some way, a way that is probably undefinable in our current liguistics.

maybe it all just switches off...fade to black then utterly gone. Bye Bye consciousness completely - no absorbing, no 'God'of any kind, no next life, no nothing.

Who knows....
