Poppy seeds from dried pods
    #3821707 - 02/23/05 12:38 PM (11 years, 9 months ago)

Will poppy seeds from dried pods work for planting? The reason I ask is because I believe that pods are dried using some type of heat. I obtained a whole bunch of dried papavers recently and in turn I have a LOT of seeds, will these work for planting this season or are the seeds destroyed when/if the pods are dried using heat?

Put a few on moist paper towel in a baggie, expose the baggie to light. About 3-5 days will give you the answer.

You won't be able to plant those seeds that sprout, the moist towel is just for viability testing.

Yea I know, I just can't believe I didn't think of simply trying to germinate them.
