Enlightenment

UNFORTUNATELY, IT SEEMS POSSIBLE
Basically, it is inherent, which means striving for it is self-defeating. Innately it is our own nature that we need to merely discover, through removing the layers of obscuration.

funny how the only way to describe enlightenment is to say what it's like, or to say what it isn't

enlightenment=experience=experiment
-------------------- A plethora of music aspirations control my temptations of future revelations beyond "now". The percussion, and the heart beat of my love and devotion. The rhythm goes beyond, prying into the third eye, releasing the creativity held so far inside. The melodicies, through the out of tune pianos and broken classical guitars...there lies a beauty. A beauty as prevelent as the fire inside. To release these energies is pure ecstacy, to deveop these gifts is sacred. The vocality, so pure as can be, shying away from herself, lies within me. For the underlying serenitity, this is what I live for. I plea for harmony, and nothing more. Music equals love. Creation of love leads to the procreativity of the World, and it's spirals and puddles prevailing.

IMO enlightenment is reaching the place and mindset I have constantly yearned for and acheiving an answer for the questions which fuel my desire to be "enlightened". Meditation won't cut it for me, experiences, trauma, friendship, Love, music, they all synergistically form what is enlightenment.

Why go out into the inextricable jungle of concepts, when what you seek is right here , at home, waiting to be recognized.
Meditation is the continual observation of mind without judgement, it does'nt mean sitting quietly in a corner somewhere. What is it that you find so unappealing about observing your own mind?

As i said concepts can never adequatley explain what enlightenment is, as it is beyond concept.
Words can be like the finger pointing to the sky, but do not confuse the finger pointing, for the sky itself.

"the fool looks at the finger that points" -unknown
or something like that...
-------------------- hello, your name is life on earth ------------------------------------ "I traveled a long way seeking God, but when I finally gave up and turned back, there He was, within me! O Lalli! Now why do you wander like a beggar? Make some effort, and He will grant you a vision of Himself in the form of bliss in your heart." -the saint of the Kashmir Shaivism tradition: Lalli.

Its like trying to describe what a human being is. You can describe the characteristcs and qualitites of body, speech and mind, that a human being may posess. But you can never capture the very essence of what it is to be human with words, that essence is beyond the limitations of language and concepts.

very wise words, I think..
To me, enlightenment is simple. To be enlightened is to feel no conflict with any part of your world, including the part that you must overcome to cease conflict. To be at peace, per se.

very cool post!!
i always like to look at the word itself
enLIGHTENment...i see it as a close relationship to "lightening up"
you know, not taking things so seriously.
-------------------- Annnnnnd I had a light saber and my friend was there and I said "you look like an indian" and he said "you look like satan" and he found a stick and a rock and he named the rock ooga booga and he named the stick Stick and we both thought that was pretty funny. We got eaten alive by mosquitos but didn't notice til the next day. I stepped on some glass while wading in the swamp and cut my foot open, didn't bother me til the next day either....yeah it was a good time, ended the night by buying some liquor for minors and drinking nips and going to he diner and eating chicken fingers, and then I went home and went to bed.

Me too the word has different meanings depending upon the system in which it is used, however you can always glean a common meaning from the etymology.
'Enlightenment' is derived from 'light', which has two meanings. The first is electromagnetic radiation in the visible spectrum detected by the sense of sight. The second meaning is the opposite of heavy.
So, the enlightened person is illuminated so as to see reality clearly, and he is also relieved of the heavy burdens of suffering and anxiety.
