went backpacking/snowshoeing near Santa Fe,NM. twas awesome!. the area is called puerto nambe, it ranges from 10-11,000ft above sea level.

















this last pic was to give a sense of how deep the snow is, that is a woodpecker hole.

anyway, ToTheSummit, annie and I are discussing another winter trip soon in the SW. if you are serious and interested PM me. It would require a person have winter equipment and backpacking experience. peace

Im jealous, that place looks spectacular. No backpackin for me till this summers Denali trip. It'll be worth the wait though.

i seem to be a speculator whenever something like backpacking happens...

i was in the military for two years and never did any cool field shit. texas sucked for field exercises! so boring!

I just picked up a Eureka four season K-2 XT tent.

I highly recommend this for an all season tent.

we have a sierra designs alpha 3-4 season convertible...worked awesome...



the nice thing about winter camping is you can go to very popular areas (popular in the summer) and see them with little to no one around.



the trees in this area reminded us of the trees in the claymation shows like Rudolf the red nosed reindeer and so on. they were frosty and had icicles, very xmas like trees.
