i went on a shroom shopping spree today i got flax seed parakeet seed wild finch seed a huge bail of hay some dung compost w/ peat humus(not sure if this is the right kind or not) wheat bran whole grain rye long grain brown rice millet quinoa sawdust do you know if that dung compost w/ peat humus is the right kind? also does this sound like good shroom stuff? hehe i'm trying to come up with a "super substrate" i can use for jars be it 1/2 pint. pint, or quart jars any ideas? the sawdust is for when i want to try pan cyans. Any ideas on ratio's or preperation or whatnot?

maybe you should add metamucil to you substrate. what was the bill for all of that?

metamucil?! are you joking or would that actually work? Cause it almost seems like a really good idea.

i don't know...yet! i haven't gotten around to trying it yet. i am thinking of using it instead of water and just boiling it for sterilization.

interesting, I don't know too much about metamucil, but i'm thinking that you should steer clear of the flavored kind. You just may be onto something here. Let us all know how it works out. Peace :-)

well everything costs around $40 US (more than1/4 of which was the quart wide mouth ball jars) the sawdust i am saving for pan cyans Recipe is as follows so far 1 cup quinoa 1 cup millet 1 cup flax seed 1 cup finch seed 1 cup parakeet seed 1 cup wheat bran a pinch of gypsum 1 cup long grain brown rice 1 cup whole grain brown rye 3 cups organic dung compost w/ peat humus and a few handfuls of shredded straw It was cooked in my pc w/out a lid for 6 hours on one of the lowest settings and set out to dry in a pillow sack outside my front door i'm going to load it into 1/2 pint and quart jars, then pc it. Anyone ever try anything like this? any suggestions for a different way to prepare it? any suggestions for things to add? etc. It will eventually be cased in coir if it colonizes ok.

Sounds good, but don't forget the Vermiculite, or it will take forever to colonize. Also what strain are you growing? Certain strains of Cubensis would actually enjoy a bit o dat saw dust. Just for flava, ya know!

The gypsm is a good idea also, being that it has powerful spirtual powers, as well as chemical. I've toyed with the idea of adding other kind of crystals to the substrait. The ancient Greeks put quartz in the soil to enhance crop growth. I always keep my fancy crystals in and around my growing chamber, Its good shit, keeps the energy positive. Haven't had any troubal with contaims either, Quartz, opal, auqamarine, emerald, selenite(gypsm), etc... Tekkite (space glass), calcite etc.....

Pan cyans are poop lovers not wood lovers. Maybe you meant to say Psilocybe Cyan's or maybe you got the two mixed up. Just tryin to save you some heartache.

Pancyans grows on dung/straw only.... But i really don't understand what are you trying to do.... there's really no need to use all that substrates.... if you want big, potent mushrooms go with dung/wheat straw or mushroom compost like the DB. In the other hand if you want nice looking ones and healty massive crops the route is agar work and a good terrarium setup... all that stuff is overkill...

Ignore them I think your onto something here Your going to need more than a cup of Verm though, at least 50%verm- 50% everything else. You don't want it to be too sticky. Also according to the hawk man, B+ is a wood loving strain and would appricate some saw dust, but not every wood will work, and some kinds could be harmful. Alder is one i'm sure is good. you do this right, I think it could result in some dank ass shrooms!!! but what do i know
