Do you guys remember that talking moose program on macs? The one where you could type anything and the moose would say what you typed. Is there any program like that for the PC? Is there one were you can somehow record your voice for each speach sound grouping so it speaks in your voice.

I have this idea for an animated painting project where people can type in what they want and a video of a painting would say what they type in. Im gonna have to talk to some programmers to get the lip syncing to correlate with the voice, but I think it would be awesome, a lot of work, but awesome.

Lots of shit does; in fact, if you have XP, there is built-in text-to-speech. Google for text-to-speech.

wow, I cant believe how many there are. Thanks delta... I cant believe I didnt just google it in the first place. Doh! I found lots that do character animation too. I just wonder how I can put my own images in the lip sync. I plan on doing a bunch of paintings of the same person with each of the different lip sync positions. Then I want to photograph them and put them into the voice animation program somehow, so users can type what they want and the painting will talk. I would display the interactive version along with all the paintings of the individual frames. It would be a pain in the as but I think it would get some good reviews....

Aghhhhhhhh too many ideas in my brain

Hey BeeJay have you seen that artist who makes huge scale robotic paintings. One is of his own face that changes randomly into various facial expressions, its really fuckin cool. If I find his name i'll send a link to his work, it's incredible. He also did a robotically controlled dripping machine that makes musical drips.

"Emotor" was the piece I was talking about, there are some video clips on the website too. The Art:21 program is really good, I was watching a marathon on PBS week or two ago.
