Mycellium on the move!
    #3816997 - 02/22/05 03:29 PM (11 years, 9 months ago)

I recently dunked & rolled my 1/2 pint cakes and placed them in my PMP. When I got home this afternoon the mycellium had overtaken the vermiculite I rolled in. Is this normal? If so, how long should I expect to see pins? Conditions are optimal.

How often should I mist, and any particular way to do it? And how much should I be fanning?

I don't like to directly mist mycelium. Once it takes over the verm I don't mist any more. They should have enough water from dunking and misting up to this point to flush well. If there getting proper fresh air exchange and light for 8 to 12 hours a day and the temps are in the low 70's It shouldn't be too long.

Don't directly mist the cakes. If you have to spray at all, spray the inside walls.
For fanning, I'd say fan no less than twice a day.

Alright, I have been only misting the walls anyway.

Is there any danger in doing a small casing inside the PMP along with the cakes? Or should I give them their own rubbermaid/perlite setup?
