Cobweb on poo? or just light mycellium growth?
    #3816335 - 02/22/05 12:37 PM (13 years, 3 months ago)

When I looked at the grow today I noticed small cotton looking growths unlike the other mycellium, and took the lid off to investigate.

Circled in the yellow are the suspectable spots.

I quickly put the lid back on after taking a picture, and made a solution of 70% water/ 30% hydrogen peroxide and sprayed it over the substrate.

The suspectable spots almost disappeared while the whiter looking mycellium stayed intact.

I put the lid back on and a blanket back over the container.

If there were only a few small spots like the ones circled in the picture, do you think I will be ok now that I misted the grow with a water/h2o2 mixture?

well those spots weren't there a couple days back.. good thing is if i took the top off and that's how it got in it's probably only on the surface and spraying with h2o2 killed it off.

Good luck, cobweb's a bitch. It sounds and looks like cobweb, but you may be lucky.

is cobweb toxic/harmful if mushrooms are eating from an infected substrate?

it might cause some gross looking shrooms. especially if its setting in before the poo is completely colonized.

I wouldn't eat any contaminated shrooms... but cobweb is one of the less toxic contams.

I am starting to think maybe the suspected "cobweb" was just light or weak mycellial growth. I sure hope so.. I will check the substrate when I go home and report back to you guys.. wish me luck!
