Myco bags
    #3816259 - 02/22/05 12:22 PM (12 years, 5 months ago)

Beeing a nieve newbie, someone I know purchased straw base myco bags instead of grain base. they are now waiting for grain based bags. They want to fruit in the bags. Can they mix the straw and grain and have a viable growing platform. They know that there is a higher risk of contamination once they cut open the bags to mix, but will it work? Can you still grow mycillium even though it is a straw grain mix?. Thank you

It won't work. I mean it could, but that is not a n00b friendly procedure. 99.99% chance of failure, without a flowhood and experience.

Here's how Newbies should do it:

Inject the grain and straw WITH THE SAME STRAIN, then, once FULLY colonized, you can mix the straw and the grain into a casing.

Also, you can just let 'em fruit in the bag.

Straw bags aren't worthless, but without poo or grain, straw will not yield very much.

Good luck.

Be sure to search these boards for proper MycoBag procedure. Search for MycoBag under my username (Cervantes) for a LOT of MycoBag posts.
