cakes not colonizing?
    #3816256 - 02/22/05 12:21 PM (13 years, 3 months ago)

I recently purchased two B+ spore syringes from a company called micro-supply and followed the pf tek instructions. I inoculated the jars and waited about 12 days and nothing happened, so I figured I did something wrong. I followed the instructions again and the same thing. So, I purchased a new syringe from Mushbox.com and went through the pf tek step by step, this time the jars started colonize within 4 days and every one of them seems to be doing very well. What do you think I did wrong, I thought that I let the jars cool down enough. Is it possible that I received bad spore syringes? I'm new to this and dont want to screw this up in the future. My work area was reasonibly clean. Could anyone tell
me how to make a simple glove box for inoculation.
Thanks cr177501

If you did the same procedure in the new jars as you did in the first, sounds like a dead syringe.

As for a glove box, search around for pictures. Pretty self-explainatory.

that sucks man, it could have been many thigs...your parameters are off or the temps are too cold. To colonize it should be around 82 but not more than 90..Thermal death(102). To make an incubator put the jars in a tuberware container and put them by the heater set at 78-79. you should see growth...also dont trow those cakes out sometimes growth takes time..
