I don't really think "blue meanie" is a strain of it's own. Renamed, as sales ploy.............IMHO

"Blue Meanie" is a widely known name for Panaeolus cyanescens

Okay. Gotcha. LOL.... I was thinking someone on ebay, or elsewhere was selling a "cube" strain as that. I guess, I don't know widely known knick names, other that actual names, IE Panaeolus cyanescens.

I made a big fuss about the "Blue Meanie" mislabeling but it seems to have fallen on deaf ears.......too much money being made on false labeling I guess.

Anyway, I'm introducing the "green buttcrack" strain tomorrow.

Ok but be warned, it's a pretty stinky strain.

Box is right.

The Blue Meanie cube has a notorious, but sorta' interesting history.

Worth the search, THAT's for sure!

Is it worth growing though? I wouldn't buy it.

it was my understanding that "shawn" of keeper's creepers repackaged golden teachers as the "z strain."
don't quote me, but i think i heard that from prisoner.

Actually, I am growing some "blue meanies" right now [Re: Rose]
    #3816407 - 02/22/05 12:53 PM (12 years, 5 days ago)

Jars have been incubating for about 2 weeks now. Look like it will take about 1 more week until birth. So if you ask me, they seem to grow a little slow. Any tips on speeding things up?

Hahaha, nope, BM is a slower cube, and nothing takes longer than your first few grows . Be patient. You will succeed.

I had some "Blue meanie" strain mushrooms a while back that I bought from someone I know. They weren't pan cyans, I know that for sure. I'm guessing they were cubes, the stems were hollow, too. Good trip on them, but at the same time, I don't think I'd go looking to grow them.

Well the fact that they came out hollow stem-ed means less mass to them, and I'm sure that there are other factors than just a strain that can influence potency. For example, I've not tried cambodians but I'm more apt to grow them than blue meanie cubes because a hollow stem means less yield, and .

That's just what makes sense to me, seeing as I'm not very experienced with growing just yet, I'm still looking to get some supply going before I try growing something with less of a yield, because not having any around while waiting on mushrooms to grow SUCKS. I'm so impatient about waiting for everything right now because my GT jars are almost done. So as of right now, it makes sense to not want something hollow.

Aggressive colonizers are just a little more appealing right now. Hope that makes sense.

Z strain may be a renamed strain, but it is definitely not the GT.
