Oven drying

My friend would like to oven-dry her shrooms, since a fan will take too long and is hard to conceal, and she cannot find dessicant anywhere.
She is able to fan dry for about 8 hours every night, but during the day she cannot. So she was wondering if she could:
-Fan dry for 8 hours tonight, and then put them in the stove for therest of the time. (let stove heat up, turn it off, and then stick the shrooms in for 1 hour)
Would this work? Would it help if she cutt he shrooms into little strips so they dry faster? What about cutting the shrooms into small strips, is this ok?

She can split them down the middle. No hotter than 100 degrees.

Ok thanks Puscle...
She already took one shroom and sliced it into very thin strips, about the size of small blades of grass. They've only been under the fan for 1 hour, and she says that they are already feeling dry. Is there any reason why she can't cut all the mushrooms into thin strips, rather than just down the middle?

Yes, and the reason is more psilocybin is exposed to oxidation. Some growers frown on drying less than whole shrooms. But don't worry, they'll still do the trick.

Oh right, that would make sense... Lucky she only did one small one like that. She knew something wasn't right. Thanks again Puscle.

In the future, you can also dry them with rock salt. The stuff works almost as well as damp rid or any other brand name dessicant.

Rock salt? Can't you buy that at supermarkets? If so, this is good news, since that she can find. Dessicant has been a pain to find for her, she still cant find it.

Yeah supermarkets or hardware stores.
It is used up here in the north to melt ice. It's called hmm let me go check i have some from last winter. ok well that could not have been an easier name to remember. IT's called "ICE MELTER" but i have also seen it has ICE BE GONE
You may find desicant at the supermarket as well. they had it with cleaning supplies/light bulbs here. and can befound in the paint section of hardware stores..
hope that helps.

I thought I had seen it at supermarkets, but I guess I was wrong. My friend checked two supermarkets today; nothing. Maybe once winter starts. Dessicant was nowhere to be found at places like Home Hardware or Color Your World. She'll try Home Depot, they'd ought to have at least one of these...

Home Depot carries damp rid refill bags that work nice. In columbus atleast.
