Drying Mushrooms question
    #3814145 - 02/22/05 12:07 AM (12 years, 1 month ago)

Can I use that stuff used in garages to soak up oil spills and shit?

It kindda is the same thing isn't it? Its used to suck moisture out of stuff. If I put it in a bag and put a screen on top of the stuff and then lay my mushies on the screen and seal the bag, will that be sufficiant?

isn't that stuff just like kitty litter? if it is i think it would absorb any direct moisture but as for sucking moisture out of the surrounding environment I'm a bit skeptical...

it would be best to use silica gel or damp-rid..

here's an idea that I've been bouncing around in my head for a bit.... if you had a fan and a large Rubbermaid you could put a bowl of desiccant in the Rubbermaid with a couple of stacked screens, add small computer-like fan and close it up... in theory the fan would circulate the air in the container and the desiccant would constantly absorbing the moisture in the air, hopefully resulting in cracker dry mushies in record time..

heh....or you could always put'em in a jar of honey and make breakfast toast a lot more interesting...
