Substrate and Jar Questions
    #3813095 - 02/21/05 07:16 PM (19 years, 1 month ago)

Hello, I just have a few quick questions.

BTW, I do read teks and faqs, but I would also just like more opinion on the subject before I do anything.

I have already grown a successful crop of mushies and have been through this message board on and off for a few years.

I would like to try using Ryche Hawks substrate with the finch seed etc, but is it worth the extra effort, and can you birth them as cakes using his method?

Also should I use Pint or 1/2 Pint jars? Keep in mind I want to birth 3/4 of them as cakes.

And for terrarium I will make the PMP that is ever so successful and popular!

Already got my spores on the way, just wanna clear up these questions before I get started.

Thanks so much!

I think that I read somplace that cakes have been made using some type of bird seed, cant be sure though. Quick question, what is the PMP setup exactly. Got a link maybe?

I was there at the last concert in Chicago, Soldier Field actually. It was my first concert experience and the best time I have ever had. Little did I know it would be the last time I would see them play.

I dont thing using whole grains in a cake will work very well. They wont hold their shape like a PF cake will. IF you get them out as whole cakes they would fall apart when you tried to pick the fruits.(or so Im told)

If your still wanting to do cakes just stick w/PF tek.

You have to be able to do a casing B4 moving on to whole graions.

If you havent done a casing I would suggest trying to case some PF cakes B4 moving on to grains.

i've never made cakes with them, but i hear they don't work very well as cakes. case them or use them to spawn something else is what i would do.

Actualy my success was with a pf cake casing, for some reason my popcorn casing didnt work though, I must have done something wrong with it...

Anyways might go with popcorn and pint jars and do a shit ton of casings to cut down on costs, increase speed and etc.

Thanks

as long as you have a Pressure Cooker, jump all over the grains.

Thanks Guys, Here is a pic of my last grow.

Its so so... I hope to improve upon it... looks like I let the casing sit too long and the casing layer was colonized...
