this spring i plan on plowing up a garden and adding manure and good soil, and then sprinkle the seeds around. Will this work, and when could I harvest?

Probably, although I'm not too sure about how easy poopy is to grow...

I still have a whole pack of papaver seeds.....
What are the legalities in the USA regarding growing these flowers?
i think i heard you can grow them as long as the pods are not pricked or harvested, is this true?
Also, can I just go throw a whole handful of seeds in the woods and expect some to grow?

I've got some giganteum poopies for trade, an assortment of colors including the ever popular brown, green, orange, and brown-red.
Anyone interested?

If i remember right it is legal to grow poppies in the US, but if the pods are damaged and you know how to make opium it is illegal. It sounds like shit but a few years ago an old friend of mine got in trouble messing with his mom's poppy plants. The laws are pretty fucked up dealing with poppies I would suggest reading them so you can know what is legal or not. Its been a few years since I read about the legal issues with poppies but I think I should now that I have about 6 plants on my deck. Hope your grow goes well. I think it would be possible if you just scattered seeds. I just had loose soil put seeds on top and put a THIN covering of soil.

Hrm I honestly can't tell you. I would recommend searching around for guides on it. I saw one a few weeks back here, from growing to smoking. I don't want to give you a bull shit answer and not trying to be a jackass and just telling you to search.

Please do a search. Poppies have been discussed many times on this board, and the poppies.org website has a lot of information at it - that should answer your general poppy questions. If you have a specific question, then post it. This site also has two (or three) threads that discuss from seed to collecting the latex.

I'd recommend reading this page: http://balder.prohosting.com/~adhpage/arc_pw/opiumeasy_cache.html It goes into detail about the laws, and it's an entertaining read.
