TiT Question
    #3811713 - 02/21/05 05:38 PM (12 years, 9 months ago)

I just plugged in my aquarium heater and it is suctioned to the bottom of the rubbermaid tub in water. Do i need to worry about the heater coming un-suctioned from the bottom and touching the tub on top?

it might be bad if it does, but if it seems stuck now it will prbably stay stuck and you'll be cool. ONe tek suggested some metal clamps to put around it if your real paranoid though =) good luck

It shouldn't be a problem. I've used an assortment of TiT's and most of the heaters eventually became detached from the bottom one way or another, and no harm was done.

Silicone the suction cups to the bottom of the tub.

Yup, smart, easy & cheap thing to do, to keep heater in place.

my suction cups seem pretty sturdy, and usually presents a problem when i clean out my bottom tub, by being so massively sticky.  I have a Tetra heater.  lets hope it stays put!

One thing to do is apply two suction cups to the top of the heater and allow the one closer to the top stick but the one closer to the bottom not stick.. That way you dont burn the top or the bottom of the TIT

What would help is metal brackets attached to the heater from keeping it from floating up. Suction cups don't work so well.

I just wrapped a rag around my heater after it stopped sticking to the bottom tub. It helps weigh it down and keeps it from coming in direct contact with the top tub. I'm also a cheapskate.

Excerpt from one of my textbooks:
Therefore, between a then and its matching else, there cannot be an if statement without an else. Statements must be distinguished between those that are matched and those that are unmatched, where unmatched statements are else-less ifs and all other statements are matched.
I wonder if that would make more sense if I was tripping when I read it.
